Event planner: Candy buffets are hot right now

Brides interested in keeping up with the latest wedding trends may want to incorporate their sweet tooth into the festivities since more wedding receptions are displaying a candy buffet for their guests.
Event planner Mary Bowerman said she is currently planning an August wedding with a "pear theme" and will have jars full of green and brown candies that include pear-flavored jelly beans.
But the candy doesn't have to revolve around fruit. Sometimes, the candy buffet can enhance the decorative colors at a wedding event.
Kathleen Clunk from Ohio told the HollandSentinel.com she used a candy buffet to bring out the colors of her daughter-in-law's shower, which was black with raspberry and lime-green accents.
"I bought more than a dozen different candies in all those colors, both wrapped and unwrapped, Clunk said. "Everything from M&Ms to Jolly Ranchers, mints, little black licorice pieces, all sorts of things."
Clunk told the news provider she placed the candies in separate crystal bowls with silver spoons and provided guests with decorative Chinese takeout boxes to hold their sweet and sour delicacies.
