Have your tween party like a rock star
May 05, 2009
Are you ready to be the coolest parent ever?
That may be what the kids call you after you throw your tween a rock star slumber party, thanks to games such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero World Tour.
Granted, these games are needed for the party to work, which means having one of the three newish gaming consoles out there: the Nintendo Wii, the Playstation 3 or the Xbox 360.
Provided you have the equipment, you can now start planning the slumber party your tween will hopefully remember for the rest of their life.
In terms of the guest list, be sure to keep it small. Ideally, three to four would be good since it would allow everyone to play an instrument (two guitars can be used for one band). If that isn't possible, then be sure to have enough party goers for two bands, allowing each to take turns.
As for invitations, mirror them after concert tickets or posters. As an added creative bonus, give the slumber party a music festival-sounding title that incorporates the name of your tween, like Mitch-apalooza or Kelly-chella.
Finally, give your neighbors a break and have the band rehearse in the basement.
