Water balloon games: Wet and wild fun
May 18, 2009
As the temperature heats up around the country, it may be time to stock up on water balloons to have for a summer backyard party.
Water balloon games are best played when the weather is warm enough so no one will mind getting a little wet (some may even welcome it).
One popular games is called water balloon toss. The game begins with two lines of people facing each other, no more than five feet apart. One side tosses the water balloon (carefully) to the person facing them (their teammate). Upon a successful catch (i.e. the balloon doesn't break), the person who caught the balloon takes a step back and tosses the balloon back.
As one may guess, the game gets increasingly difficult as the distance between two people gets larger. The last team standing with an intact balloon wins.
Another fun water balloon game also involves tossing and is called 500. One player takes the water balloon and tosses it straight in the air. While doing so, he or she calls out a number like "150!" The other players have to attempt to catch the falling balloon and, if they do, are awarded the yelled-out points. The first to 500 wins.
