As the baseball season continues to get closer to its midway point, it may be time for your own boys and girls of summer to engage in one of the most beloved backyard games: wiffle ball.
The game that uses a plastic bat and ball can provide hours of fun, especially when there are enough guests at the party for two full teams.
While a baseball team has nine players on the field, a wiffle ball team should be about half of that, with a pitcher, catcher and two to three fielders. One fun wiffle ball game to play is homerun derby, which has batters attempting to hit the ball in the air past a certain point. Players in the field have to either catch or grab a ground ball without bobbling it for an out.
For added fun, make custom t-shirts for each team with names like the Sharks and the Bears. By using animal names for the teams allows you to use stuffed animals as mascots for the seventh (or fifth) inning stretch.
Finally, be sure to have plenty of hot dogs on hand for the ballgame.
