Try to stump your friends with Harry Potter trivia
July 07, 2009
With the release of the new film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on July 15, the summer may once again be awash with wizard-themed parties.
It may also be a bittersweet time for Harry Potter fans, given that the Half-Blood Prince is the sixth film in the seven-film franchise - meaning it's nearing the end for these movies.
But instead of focusing on the conclusion of a decade-long movie odyssey, celebrate the past with a Harry Potter costume party and trivia night.
Ask guests, young and old (or wizard and muggle if you prefer) to come dressed as their favorite character from the J.K. Rowling books. Have a prize ready for the best one of the night, voted on by the guests themselves.
Next, split everyone into four different teams using the names of the four houses at Hogwarts: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin.
As for the difficulty, it may be a good idea to organize the trivia questions into different tiers and assign them points based on how hard they are. An obscure fact from one of the books may garner a team five points while a character name from the movie may get three.
