Create 'Wipeout' in the backyard
July 08, 2009
One of the more popular television shows this summer has been ABC's Wipeout, which is the American versions of the British show of the same name.
In the show, contestants go through an immense obstacle course that includes four rounds of competition. While recreating the game in your backyard may not be a realistic endeavor, the spirit of a creative obstacle course may be within grasp.
Be creative with the tools and items you have in the garage or in the basement. One idea is to incorporate some of the children's toys. A kiddie pool along with waterguns can add an extra element of fun for an obstacle course.
As for specific challenges, again use what you have. Consider using picnic table benches as hurdles or various sport balls as implements contestants will have to dodge.
Don't forget to decorate the area appropriately with personalized banners that could say Jane's Wipeout Party! Prepare for the Worst! Food served during the competition should be light and full of protein to give your guests energy to continue competing throughout the day.
Oh, and if you get permission, consider shooting a video of everyone going through the course for laughs later on.
