American Girl tea party
July 10, 2009
Most young girls love the American Girl dolls, so why not throw a party centered on their favorite toy?
An American Girl tea party can be an elegant affair for all the guests by incorporating the look of a traditional tea party, but with some added fun.
First, look for pink or white party decorations. A pink table cloth will work well. Don't forget to place flowers (they can be real or fake) all around the room as well.
As for the dolls, consider having a small table set up in a separate room, perhaps with a miniature tea set. The seating arrangements can mirror that of your guests.
Just because it says it's a tea party doesn't necessarily mean only tea can be served. Hot cocoa or iced tea can be used as substitutes. Fill your platters with brightly-colored cookies, scones and other assorted pastries.
Finally, consider renting the movie Kit Kittredge: An American Girl for the party's entertainment. The movie, which is based on the American Girl doll of the same name, stars Abigail Breslin in the title role and focuses on Kittredge's goal of becoming a newspaper reporter during the Great Depression.
