Party in the park for city families
July 15, 2009
For people who live in large metropolitan areas, hosting a party in an apartment or condo may prove difficult given the space restrictions.
While a dinner party may work, larger festivities such as child's birthday party could be difficult to plan. Thankfully, most large cities in the U.S. have an ample supply of public parks, so it's a good idea for party planners to take advantage of them.
Assuming all your guests have access to public transportation, suggest meeting at the park. Pick a large landmark within the part to make it easier for people to find you. However, be sure to provide your cell phone number in the party invitation in case people get lost.
If you plan on having a large gathering, suggest a potluck picnic where each guest or family brings one entree. This will avoid anyone having to lug anything heavy in the city.
As for games, be prepared to be flexible since your space in a public park is subject to change. Bringing a Frisbee is an easy and inexpensive way to incorporate an activity to your park party. If you have more people, consider playing ultimate Frisbee or Frisbee golf.
