The Emmy nominations were recently announced and since the live television broadcast will not take place till September 20, this allows ample time for people to either re-watch their favorite shows or discover new ones.
Because most of the shows are available on DVD or through some cable provider's on-demand feature, it is relatively easy to organize an Emmy-nominated show viewing party for you and your television-junkie friends.
First examine the list of nominees for the shows to determine which ones you may want to feature. The shows nominated for best comedy series are: Entourage, Flight of the Conchords, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, 30 Rock and Weeds.
As for dramatic series, they are: Big Love, Breaking Bad, Damages, Dexter, House, Lost and Mad Men.
If you know beforehand that some guests may not appreciate shows with profanity or adult situations, it may be a good idea to stick to the shows on major networks.
Once you have chosen the shows, set your living room up with a comfortable seating area and a snack table on the side. Think chips and pretzels. Or order a couple of pizzas and cut them up into bite-size portions.
