Have a vinyl records party
July 20, 2009
Despite the existence of cassette tape and CDs, vinyl records have survived and are now thriving, with more music collectors embracing the format.
This is a great opportunity for you to throw a vinyl records party, provided you have a record player and enough friends who can spend hours discussing music.
First, the party invitations should be round and shaped as a record. Tell guests to bring their favorite record (or records) and to be prepared to discuss it with the group. The discussion can range from a little music history about how the record was made or maybe a personal memory attached to it.
With party decorations, think about hanging some white Christmas lights to produce a dimly-lit area, which can be more conducive for people to talk about music (there's something comforting about being partly in the dark). Also, place some cushions on the floor for people to sit on.
A bottle of wine and some finger foods would add a nice touch the evening. Be prepared to have different rounds of snacks that will come out as the music goes on.
