Party planning tips: Setting up for a television party
July 30, 2009
With so many television shows on DVD, it's easy to plan a party surrounding a favorite show among you and your friends. It's the setting up party that may be a bit tricky.
If the party is focused around a particular show, think about incorporating pictures of the characters as party decorations. You can hang them up on the wall along with a personalized banner.
Some shows, such as ABC's Lost, have little inside jokes that only die-hard fans would get (Dharma Initiative branded food products, 70s clothing). It's a good idea to recreate show elements like that into your party for some added fun.
For live television events (not OnDemand or on DVD), there are some other things to consider.
Seating arrangements should be thought of ahead of time. It may seem trivial, but it's important that your guests are comfortable and that someone isn't straining their neck to see the television. This can be accomplished by placing pillows on the floor to show people where they can sit.
Finally, if the show is a bit scary, like HBO's True Blood, hang some glow sticks on the wall to create a creepy atmosphere.
