Planning a party for your college graduate
April 13, 2009
With May just around the corner, graduation season is coming into play at numerous colleges around the country, which means families will be gearing up to throw a send-off party before their new graduate enters the (gulp) real world.
Though it is tempting to take complete control over the graduation party, it may be wise to remember this day is as much for the newly liberated student as it is for the family who supported him or her throughout their four years of study.
In terms of décor, it is fun to use the school's colors as an overlapping theme, either through balloons, streamers or posters. Other party themes could be a specific sport your graduate participated in or a campus job they were found of, such as DJing the school's radio station or editing the university's paper.
Also, if college or close friends are invited to the party, a display in the corner of old photographs from throughout the years may be a fun way to show how far your graduate has come and grown since their early years in school.
