Donate to charity with a closet-cleaning party
August 05, 2009
Host a joint closet-cleaning party with friends and pass on unwanted clothing and furniture to Goodwill.
Perhaps your event can follow a Radiohead theme too, as the band recently released a new track, Harry Patch (In Memory Of) and also decided to donate the profits to the British Legion.
Pick a Saturday for your event, so you have the chance to pop over to several friends' houses in the course of the day. At each stop, the closet owner must provide snacks, drinks and play a Radiohead album as you all work. To keep things fair, only select one stop for each album and go in chronological order.
Assign certain tasks to each attendee, such as one person carries the trash bags, another calls for a charity pickup after each house and a third remembers the rubber gloves.
Think about providing snacks depending on the time of day. For example, the first stop to coincide with Pablo Honey might want to consider banana fritters with honey drizzle, orange juice and coffee for breakfast, whereas Ok Computer's house might want to consider crunchy, futuristic-looking snacks like veggies with dip, pretzel rods and mini cupcakes and cans of soda.
