Have a white party this Labor Day
August 11, 2009
Stacy and Clinton of TLCs hit What Not to Wear would adamantly advise that no one wear white after Labor Day. To celebrate the last okay day for your tennis whites, host a party where guests have to dress entirely in this shade.
As Labor Day barbecues can be popular, get your invitations out now to entice friends and family to your house. Of course, they should be printed on blank paper or cardboard.
Once you have guests' attention, ask them to bring white foods or drinks so you don't do all the work alone. Some good ideas are a cheese platter, featuring feta, brie and cheddar, a white cheddar pasta salad and garlic chicken breasts to grill.
You can serve a whole range of beverages, but choose one special drink that's without color for the centerpiece such as a Pina Colada or lychee martini. Both can be made virgin for non-drinkers.
The best Labor Days allow everyone to relax, particularly kids who arent thrilled about their return to school. It is a good idea to keep things simple, providing some outdoor toys for little ones, a couple of movies and space for them to play. Encourage adults to relax both in and outside and don't forget to buy the bug spray!
