Throw the bouquet, but to kids
August 19, 2009
While some wedding traditions are gladly passed down from past generations, some brides are steering clear of one activity that seems to bring embarrassment to the single ladies in the crowd.
The throwing of the bouquet is something brides do for all the women at the wedding reception who are not married. The idea is that the woman who catches the bouquet will be the next to be married.
Though some Hollywood films depict this as something fun during the reception, some women have found it embarrassing and slightly degrading.
Brides who share this sentiment may want to consider throwing the bouquet to a group of younger girls attending the ceremony. But instead of calling all of the kids to the dance floor, how about just having the bride nonchalantly tossing it over her shoulder?
This can be pre-arranged with an adult in charge of gathering all the girls to a specific spot for the bouquet. Don't forget to inform the wedding photographer as these will surely be some fun and memorable scenes to capture on film.
The best part? The bride will seem like a hero to all her single friends who prefer not to be outed in public.
