MP3 shuffle activity for dinner parties
August 26, 2009
A recent note that was spread around Facebook involving putting a person's MP3 player on shuffle may be a good dinner party activity, especially for guests who are more musically inclined than others.
This particular note asked Facebook users to put their MP3 player on shuffle and to write down the songs that came up in a list with predetermined categories such as "My makeout song" and "I listen to this when I need to sleep."
Dinner party guests can participate in a similar activity as an ice breaker. When sending out party invitations, be sure to tell people to bring their MP3 player with them and say it will be part of a quick game before the meal.
Once all your guests have arrived, pass out a sheet of paper with the predetermined categories printed on them. Then, have everyone put their players on shuffle and tell them to write whatever song pops up. They are not allowed to skip, even if it's embarrassing.
When everyone is done, have people either run through the entire list or have people announce the song by category. Don't forget to have a stereo nearby with an MP3 hookup in case people want to hear a song they've never heard before.
