Turn teacher appreciation into a party
September 17, 2009
If you relish the hours before 3 pm, rally the kids to show some love for their favorite teachers during Educator Appreciation Week September 29-October 7.
Coordinate with other class parents to organize a teacher appreciation party. Bring all the kids together to make trinkets of thanks for their favorite educator.
Encourage each child to design a thank you card. Lay out a large sheet in an open area of your home and provide cardstock, markers, stickers and glitter.
Keep the kids' creative juices flowing by providing inspiring snacks, such as cupcakes or fruit snacks.
Hold a contest to see who can think of the most creative homemade gift idea. If they get stuck, suggest a hand painted coffee mug or specially designed frame to hold a class picture. Divide the group into teams and encourage them to work together on each of the best ideas.
While the youngsters are hard at work, get the parents together to decide on an adult token of gratitude. Plan a day during the week to surprise the teacher with his or her gifts. As long as you check with the school first, any excellent educator will surely be delighted.
