Award yourself with an Emmy viewing party
September 17, 2009
The stars book their beauty teams months in advance to prepare for the Primetime Emmy Awards this Sunday, but throwing your own viewing party doesn't have to be a big to-do.
Set up your living room like a ballroom. Cover card tables with tablecloths and chairs with a gold fabric to create thrones for your personal entourage.
Encourage your guests to decide which of their favorite primetime characters they'll be impersonating for the evening. Creating a seating chart and personalized name cards for each guest, making sure you don't seat enemies like Bill and Eric from HBO's True Blood near one another.
Serve your guests beverages from your finest Hollywood-inspired glassware. Decorating champagne flutes with stick-on rhinestones and gold paint will make your friends feel like they have celebrity status.
Prior to the big night, print a list of awards and their nominees and distribute them to your guests. Have each guest make their pick and track their score throughout the show. Award the winner with their own trophy and fill the cup with goodies such as chocolate coins or costume jewelry.
When the show is over, wind down your night of fabulousness with a viewing of a few episodes of one of the winning programs.
