Party for Favre?s return to Green Bay
October 02, 2009
If you have friends on both sides of the field for this Monday's Vikings vs. Packers game, don't sweat it - if Favre can keep his emotions in check, so can they. Instead of spending the night at a high-priced sports bar, recession-proof this football season by doing a little party planning. Have some friends over to your place, kick back, serve up some snacks and enjoy the show.
Though it wouldn't be Monday Night Football without some chips and wings, you can also take advantage of summer's last gasp and fire up the grill. One idea is to offer your fellow fans a microbrew from your teams' hometown - think Brau Brothers, Flat Earth, and Lift Bridge beers if you're rooting for the Viking's, and Hinterland or Titletown brews for the Packers' fans among you.
You could even provide your guests with some optional headgear. Viking helmet or cheesehead? They're move.
Bring in some extra chairs from the kitchen if your couch space is limited so that all of your guests are comfortable. This way they'll have plenty of room to sit, cheer, fist-pump, or, um, express their displeasure. It might be a good idea to put anything breakable safely out of the way.
Make sure to leave the house in one piece so you can have a repeat next month - the teams meet again on November 1st.
