Theme your Halloween party
October 26, 2009
Make your Halloween party decorations especially unique by picking a theme.
Look to classic horror movies for inspiration and go all out to create a memorable party. For a theme that's both creepy and ironic, stick to campy horror flicks like Friday the 13th. Hang a Camp Crystal Lake sign on your door and hand out fake axes, machetes and butcher knives to your guests as they arrive.
Put up a few (fake blood spattered) hockey masks around the house in unexpected places, like the coat closet or taped to the bathroom mirror.
Add an eerie note to the night by playing the score from the Friday the 13th movies - the creepy, climactic music is guaranteed to make everyone a little bit jumpy.
For a classic vibe, go with Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. To set the tone, have guests sign in at the Bate's Motel guest book when they arrive.
As an homage to the classic shower scene, replace your usual shower curtain with a cheap, white vinyl one and smear fake blood all over the curtain, on the floor and in the shower. Try and get a few bloody hand prints on the walls, too.
Make your guests t-shirts that say things like I spent a night at the Bates Motel or I Love Camp Crystal Lake as party favors.
