Host an Oprah party
November 23, 2009
Is the queen of day-time talk shows really calling it quits? It might be hard to believe, but Oprah Winfrey seems to be throwing in the towel.
Last week on CNN, the media mogul announced that she will be retiring from her show as of September 2011.
Though that's nearly two years away, the fact that the end is in sight might make long-time viewers nostalgic. So what can be done to ease the pain? An Oprah-celebration party might be in order.
Invite fellow fans over for an evening that is all about the woman who has become an American guru of sorts. Search through a copy of O, the Oprah Magazine, for a few delicious recipes. Serve guests some Oprah-endorsed appetizers to enjoy while watching classic Oprah episodes.
You can even use this opportunity to multi-task. Gets a head start on your holiday shopping by browsing through Oprah's Favorite Things List, which has sparked more than one pop cultural phenomenon. Remember what happened when Oprah endorsed Ugg boots?
Keep in mind that Oprah's book club has been responsible for the success of many novels. As a tribute, you could organize an Oprah's book club countdown to her retirement. Meet monthly to discuss some of the books that she has made popular.
