Keep kids busy this winter with Christmas crafts
December 02, 2009
Homemade Christmas ornaments are a great way to personalize your Christmas tree, and in the years to come you'll treasure the Christmas crafts that your children made when they were little.
Many craft stores sell white Christmas tree ornaments that are made to be painted. Set kids up with a paint set and a few blank ornaments, and let them paint whatever they want. For especially little ones, consider drawing a design in pencil for them to trace.
These ornaments can be jazzed up with glue and sparkles, or puff paint.
Another fun craft for kids is a popsicle sleigh. Purchase a package of popsicle sticks and either spray paint the whole batch red, or allow kids to hand-paint the sticks themselves.
When they're dry, place four popsicle sticks flat on the table and glue them together at the sides. Glue one stick across the width of the "sleigh" and tie a ribbon to each end. Using a silver marker, write the date and each child's name across the sled, and allow them to hang it on the Christmas tree.
