Celebrate National Cookie Day with a Christmas cookie party
December 04, 2009
Everyone has a favorite type of cookie. Whether you prefer snickerdoodles, sugar cookies, chocolate chip oatmeal bars or coconut macaroons, there is no better day to indulge your sweet tooth than December 4, the much-anticipated National Cookie Day.
Kids (and actually most adults) are guaranteed to enjoy a cookie decorating party. It's also the prefect activity to get you into the holiday spirit.
If you like to bake, whip up a big batch of sugar cookies and use Christmas-shaped cookie cutters to create the perfect canvas for your edible masterpieces. Those who hate to cook or are short on time can just pick up a few packages of break and bake sugar cookies.
Then head to your local craft store or supermarket and load up on red and green sprinkles, frosting and icing tubes. Then, set up some newspaper on a table or counter top and allow everyone to go crazy decorating their delicious treats.
For a more adult cookie party, try out a few sophisticated recipes like rum balls, pfeffernussen, ginger snaps or mocha-flavored snow caps.
