Throw a Jersey Shore party to beat the winter blues

This weekend the new MTV reality show Jersey Shore made its two-hour debut. Fans of the Real World will recognize the premise – eight strangers forced to cohabitate and hold down a job with cameras watching their every move. However, on Jersey Shore the cast members are situated in a beach house right on the state’s coast?, and all seven are Italian American.

The show has been slightly controversial, but there is no doubt that it is full of campy Jersey details like a whole lot of man bling, thick accents and short skirts - perfect material for a theme party. All eight of the housemates provide some fodder for costumes and personas. Watch an episode of the show and pick an outrageous character to attend the party as.

Specify in the party invitations that costume is required.Girls should wear crazy high platform shoes, or fluffy slippers and long, dark wigs. Guys should make sure to wear a tank top and plenty of cologne.

For party fare, serve boardwalk style foods like popcorn, ice cream and corn dogs. And, if you’re so inclined, this might be the perfect opportunity for a Jager bombs.

Hand guests glow sticks at the door and play plenty of Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi for that New Jersey beach vibe.
