Amnesty International hosts top secret party
December 09, 2009
The human rights group Amnesty International hosted a secret party over the weekend in Washington, D.C. At the event, Bruce Springsteen was presented with a Kennedy Center honor.
The party was reported to be a black tie gala that boasted plenty of famous names, according to Trak.in. It took place in a lounge at the exclusive Madarin Oriental hotel, the website reports.
So who exactly was on the guest list at this covert fete? Robert De Niro, Mel Brooks, Meryl Streep, Martin Short, Matthew Broderick, Jack Black, Eddie Vedder, Herbie Hancock and Ed Norton were among those who turned out to celebrate, the news source reports.
Eddie Vedder might have thought that the glitz and glamor made for a very romantic evening Pearl Jam frontman reportedly proposed to long time girlfriend Jill McCormick while the two were in the capitol for the weekend.
The website reported that Vedder and McCormick were among the last to leave the event. The couple - along with Ben Harper and his wife Laura Dern - didn't call it a night until nearly 5 am.
