Katie Price sparks divorce party trend

Divorce parties – men and women marking the end of their marriages with as much pomp and circumstance as they celebrated them - have become a huge trend in recent months.

Most notably, the UK's Katie Price (also known as her alter ego Jordan), threw a huge bash to celebrate her divorce from singer Peter Andre.

"Divorce parties are a great idea. Everyone should have one," the star reportedly told Ok! Magazine. "It’s not about getting back at your ex, it’s about celebrating the fact that you are over your marriage."

The website This Is London reported that the star danced the night away in Ibiza, staying out until 4 am before returning to her hotel to continue the festivities.

It was also reported that the star threatened to "cut" a journalist who she believed worked with her ex, Andre.

Many people opt for divorce cakes or other campy details, but in general the trend seems to be a way to show newly-single friends that you're in their corner.
