Easter parties usher in the spring!
February 16, 2010
Easter is many people's favorite holiday of the year. Not only is it a pastel-colored harbinger of spring, but it also allows for rabbit-shaped chocolates and other sweet, adorable confections.
If you're getting a little stir crazy and are ready for spring to officially star, why not host an Easter party? All of your friends and family will be able to enjoy the event, as the adults will cherish time with their loved ones and kids can be easily entertained with Easter activities.
Put up cheerful Easter party suppliesEaster decorations are usually brightly colored and cheerful. Feel free to go all out on this happy holiday, and fill your home with Easter bunny door decorators, Easter egg cut-outs for the wall, and Easter paper goods like purple cocktail napkins and paper cups and plates.
Also search for streamers and party lights in colors such as yellow, purple and pink. Wind the lights around banisters and door frames so that the inside of your home will be fun and inviting even after the sun goes down.
Make sure to send out invitations!
Send out Easter invitations to all of your guests, and let them know the details of your fête. If you're having friends and family over on Easter Sunday, let them know whether they should expect a formal event or a laid-back affair.
A large part of the Easter celebration is the delicious food, so plan a feast for your loved ones. Whether you prefer a spiral ham with traditional side dishes like green beans, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob, or a more complicated epicurean dish, be sure that there is more than enough to go around!
Because families tend to mill about and mingle on these large holidays, a buffet-style meal might be an ideal way to make sure that everyone has fun and gets fed.
Of course, sweet treats are always necessary on Easter, no matter how old you are. Set a small serving table off to the side and lay out a decadent spread that will sate everyone's sweet tooth.
A tray of truffles, a pink or yellow cake and a variety of cookies will make guests' mouths water!
Keep the little ones busy
As the adults catch up, keep the younger members of your family busy with an old fashioned Easter egg hunt. After hard-boiling a large batch of eggs, strategically place them around your home and yard before the guests arrive.
Then, at the right moment, announce to the youngsters in the crowd that they can have at it! Award prizes to whoever finds the most eggs. (Just make sure to keep a list of where you hid the items, and pick up any that remained hidden later in the day.)
No matter how you plan your Easter party, remember that the holiday is about spending time with your loved ones and enjoying the arrival of spring!
