Anniversary parties celebrate love and commitment
April 01, 2010
Love is in the air, can you feel it? Or better yet, can you hear it? The birds are chirping, happy couples are stealing sweet kisses from one another and wedding bells are chiming. The spring brings out our sentimental side and it seems like cupid is stinging unsuspecting souls with his arrow at every corner.
While many of us have been walking around starry-eyed with our new special somebody, other couples are celebrating their love and the commitment they made to each other years ago. Spring is often a popular time for weddings, so when the season comes around each year it seems like there's always another reason for us to raise our glass and shout "congratulations!"
If you're celebrating an anniversary yourself, why not make a huge event out of the occasion and throw a party?
Anniversary parties can be as fun, exciting and memorable as your wedding day. They're excuses to gather up family and friends for an afternoon or evening and remind them that you're still committed to the person you pledged the words "I do!" to all those years ago. If you have the right people, decorations and food, an anniversary party can shape up to be the event of the year.
If you're coordinating an anniversary bash and don't know where to begin, the first thing to cross off of your checklist should be anniversary party supplies. Anyone who throws a party knows that supplies are necessary and fun ways to remind people why they came to celebrate. And, most importantly, why they arrived with a gift in hand!
For starters, paper cups, plates and napkins should be purchased before the affair. Goods adorned with words such as "love" and "forever" should be generously placed around the venue. If you really get into the party planning, try placing a photo centerpiece on every table. Your guests will get a kick out of seeing those precious moments you captured on film.
Also, consider purchasing paper goods that resemble your finest china. The look brings an elegant feeling to the event - and you won't wind up doing dishes when everyone goes home!
Anniversary decorations are a must. Still, make sure your coordinate the look of the evening with the number of years you and your loved one have been together.
The 25th anniversary is a special one - it's the silver anniversary, of course! For 25th anniversary ideas, turn to this metal for color inspiration. Use the hue as a theme for the event - all silverware and decorations should have this shade in them.
If it's your 50th wedding anniversary, well, congrats! For 50th wedding anniversary ideas, don't forget the color of choice is gold. All decorations should have this tint in them, no matter what. You want to remind people that you have been in love with your sweetheart for five full decades.
Overall, just remember to have fun. Enjoy the day, take lots of photos, and make it one to remember.
