Host an intergalactic birthday extravaganza
July 13, 2010
Despite being released over 30 years ago, the allure of Star Wars still lives on today. Thanks to an endless stream of re-releases, new movies and TV shows, a new generation has been exposed to the wonder of George Lucas' epic fantasy. Whether you child is an avid Obi-wan supporter or a steadfast Darth Vader apologist, celebrating their birthday with a Star Wars-themed party will surely be out of this world.
In the films, a Jedi would be able to send an invitation from Coruscant to Tatooine with ease, but on Earth it is not so easy. Thus, they have to be as attractive as possible. Consider sending ones that are complete with an outer space scene. This can be an ordinary collection of planets and stars, or it can include Luke Skywalker piloting his X-wing or the Millennium Falcon blasting its way out of Hoth. You should be as creative as possible with wording the invitations as well. Consider including some original spins on iconic lines or motifs from the movie. For example, adding "may the force be with you" at the end could be a nice touch.
Selecting the appropriate decorations for the bash is extremely important and you will certainly want your house to look like Lando Calrissian could appear at any moment. One way to do this is by hanging a Star Wars force banner that includes images of Yoda and Obi-wan fighting against the dark side of the Force. Draping a movie-themed cloth on the tables is a good choice, too - this time, think about including some images of Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Emperor Palpatine to pay homage to the villains everybody loves to hate. Setting up a few life-sized cutouts is a great idea, too. Arranging C-3PO and R2-D2 next to Chewbacca would be perfect because it allows Star Wars enthusiasts an opportunity to see their favorite characters up close.
Not having the right supplies could lead to a systems malfunction, so it is important to be prepared. When it comes time to serve food, a fantastic option would be plates, napkins and cups that feature Yoda and Darth Vader embroiled in a lightsaber battle. These rare moments are always the most exciting portions of the movie so it would make sense that it is represented. A nice twist might be providing guests with a Darth Vader pinata to destroy, because who wouldn't love taking down the Sith lord? Your young padawan may want to hand out gift bags to all the guests that attended as a thank you, which should be an appropriately-themed Star Wars loot bag.
The six Star Wars movies have spawned a huge, loyal following of fans and many of them love celebrating their affinity for the films. Nearly everybody, from young children to those who were alive when the original film was released in 1977, have a special place in their heart for the lovable characters.Throwing an excellent shindig could have your fan thinking that they have traveled to a galaxy far, far away.
