Celebrate like the stars with a Hollywood-themed party
July 14, 2010
Summer is a great time for moviegoers. Often, some of the most anticipated films of year come out in the summer months. Recent classics such as The Dark Knight, 40 Year Old Virgin and Transformers have all been released in July or August. A great way to celebrate the celluloid success in the summer is to host a Hollywood party. Ride the wave of summer movie popularity and bring the glitz and glamour of the stars to your living room.
Sending your friends and family is always an important aspect of planning a party, and there are limitless options for a Hollywood-themed gala. A good idea would be to send ones that resemble a request to attend a big movie premiere. Not only will these invitations be sure to convey the theme of your party, but if they are designed well enough, they can be saved for years later. Of course, framing your bash as a movie premier is not the only option. Invitations can give off a more formal feel if that is the atmosphere you are looking to achieve.
If there is one thing that Hollywood is known for, it is extravagance, so be sure to go all out when it comes to decorating your shindig. Hanging a Hollywood night scene setter is a great start. Scene setters are an excellent option as they provide a fantastic, subtle backdrop for the goings-on. Including some gold and black star garland could be a nice complement to your decorations. Another viable choice would be to adorn your tables with either black or gold fringed skirt to match the dangling, sparking garland. Tie everything together with a 5-and-a-half foot tall Oscar statue. Few trophies are more recognizable than the prize actors receive upon winning an Academy Award. Placing a life-size version of it will certainly prove to be a hit when your guests begin taking pictures. A spectacular final touch would be to lay some red floor runner to create the appearance of the red carpet at an exclusive event.
Decorations can really sell the motif, but supplies are what can make or break a successful party. Plates and napkins that feature the Hollywood sign illuminated by spotlights is a terrific idea for either hors d'uvres or a more substantial meal. Celebrities in Tinseltown are often given gift bags when they attend an event, so why not say thank you to your guests in the same way. Giving those who attended a nifty collection of swag is a great way to ensure that they come to your next soiree. Actors are sometimes known for their elaborate wardrobe and you and your guests should have the option to mimic popular starlets. Items such as a gold glitter top hat or funky sunglasses are great ideas.
Many people are envious of the lifestyles of the rich and famous and while it is difficult to emulate their lives entirely, a night of lavish excess can be a fun way to taste stardom.
