Say goodbye to summer with a graduation party
August 06, 2010
A high school graduation can be one of the most momentous occasions in a young adult's life. The ceremony serves as culmination of all the hard work and determination they have put in throughout the years, and it also marks the beginning of the transition into adulthood. Whether a student is going on to higher education or entering the workforce , their accomplishment should be celebrated, so why not honor your son our daughter's achievement with a terrific graduation party? It will be sure to be a great end to their high school years.
For starters, you'll want to send out fantastic invitations. There are a few directions you can take, but a good choice would be to select announcements that feature images associated with academia, like a cap and gown or a diploma. If you're looking for more informal ones, consider purchasing invites that include silhouettes of celebrating grads tossing their hats in the air.
When decorating your shindig, you'll definitely want to hang a large banner congratulating the recent grad and his or her fellow classmates. Placing it outside or making it the focal point will be a wonderful way to greet your guests. Additionally, having graduation swirls dangling from the ceiling that are replete with caps, diplomas, tassels and the graduation year is a great way to incorporate the theme. Of course, balloons are great for any party, so you should think about having a collection of them floating around your get-together.
If your party migrates outside and continues into the evening, you should make sure that you have proper lighting. A perfect way to do thiswould be to hang graduation-themed lanterns that will illuminate your yard as the recent grads spend the night reminiscing about the days gone by. If the guest of honor has a quirky sense of humor, why not make an effort to celebrate that as well? Setting up a life size stand up of the Three Stooges decked out in full graduation regalia will be enough to make anybody smile.
Once your decorations are squared away, you'll need to purchase excellent supplies as well. Plates, napkins and cups are a necessity for any gathering, and for a graduation party they should be especially fun and exciting. Using paper goods that are colored with bright hues will have everybody ready for celebrating. Even though many of the guests will have just graduated, that does not mean they're too old for a pinata! Stuffing a smiley face wearing a mortar board with candy and other prizes and letting your guests have at it with a stick will be an awesome idea.
The summer after graduation marks a bittersweet moment for many students. It can often be the last time they see their friends before they part ways and move on to a new phase in their life. Having one last night to get together before the summer ends can be the perfect cap on an important era.
