Host a fantastic New Years Eve party for friends and family
August 20, 2010
Almost everyone loves New Years Eve. When the clock strikes midnight and the crowd joins in singing Auld Lang Syne, it marks the chance to erase the memories of the past year and start anew once again. And who doesn't love spending the New Year with some of their closest friends and family? Gathering everyone close to you and hosting your own celebration can be the perfect way to usher in 2011.
The first item on your to-do list should be to select enticing invitations. A good route to take would be to purchase ones that feature the typical imagery associated with the holiday. Invites that are adorned with photos of party hats, streamers and confetti will be a good choice. If you're looking for a more formal approach, going with understated silver or black invites is probably your best bet.
As for decorations, you should make sure not to leave anything out since this is the last party of the year. Too start off, try hanging gold and black star garland around the house. This will be a great way to set a subtle, classy atmosphere. Since you've started out with these colors, think about using more of them by including a gold metallic fringe around a table, as well as black fringe hanging above a doorway.
Of course you will need more than just the basics to make your shindig a success. Try inflating some balloons that wish your guests a happy New Year and spreading them throughout the party. For a final touch, you should consider scatter some confetti throughout your home.
There are definitely a lot of supplies you do not want to forget when preparing for your party either. It just would not be an official shindig without fun accessories, so be sure to purchase some hats for partygoers to wear as the clock inches toward midnight. Similarly, some of your guests may want to wear ridiculous glasses in the shape of 2011, so pick up some of those as well. Noisemakers are also a necessity since most people enjoy celebrating the New Year with lots of fanfare.
While noisemakers and hats are good additions, you will need functional supplies as well. Paper plates, cups and napkins are all a necessary purchase, but you should be sure to match the colors with the rest of your decor. Additionally, you'll need to ensure that you have enough champagne flutes when it comes time for a toast. If you're looking for a unique twist on the classic beverage holder, why not purchase ones that are complete with LED lights? It will definitely add a sense of flair to a timeless tradition.
New Years Eve is frequently one of the biggest party nights of the year, so it would be a travesty to not do all you can to ensure your soirée is a hit. Take care when planning and your guests will have a wonderful evening.
