Celebrate your next birthday with a western party
September 24, 2010
When a birthday rolls around, a boring old party will not do. No one likes just meeting for some cake and ice cream and leaving after everyone is finished, so to spice up your next birthday why not make it a theme party - a western party to be exact!
Of course every great party needs guests in order for the fun to really begin, so start by sending out some awesome party invitations. Customs party invites with cowboy hats and boots will surely get the point across as to what kind of fiesta you'll be hosting, and you can even request that your friends come in their best western gear to really make the party feel more authentic. The guys, and gals, can done their best cowboy hat and spurs to make it seem as if they just hopped off a saddle and are ready to party.
Once you have invitations out of the way, you need to think about decorations and how far you want to take the event. For a more simple approach that is friendly to all kinds of budgets, sticking with traditional balloons and streamers are the perfect party accents. The balloons can have pictures of cacti and pistols so that they're still on theme for the shindig. For those who want to go a little more over-the-top, try turning your venue into and old style saloon or a scene from the wild west.
Start by placing backdrops of old western towns throughout to give it a more rugged feel. You can even find backdrops of a bar scene to make it feel like an old time watering hole for cowboys after a long day of gun slinging and horseback riding. The more authentic your party feels, the more fun everyone will have.
Next, you want to consider what you'll be serving for food. For individuals who plan on making their party an event to remember, try serving some authentic Texas barbecue. Ribs, steak, chicken, you name it, it needs to be served at your party. Remember to have plenty of paper goods on hand for your partygoers as they chow down on some grub. Paper plates, napkins, cups and plastic tableware are all available in a western motif. Some come decorated with sheriff badges, while others may have horses and cowboys on them.
Have a couple extra cowboy hats on hand for those who forget theirs, as they definitely won't want to be left out of the fun. For party favors you can hand out silver and gold sheriff badges. If you have the budget for it, try setting a photo booth where your friends can take their very own "Wanted" posters that they can take home as a souvenir as well.
A western party themed birthday will be one for the ages, but it is best to plan in advance and remain organized. Once you have all of your decorations in place just add your friends to the mix and get ready for some line dancing and good old fashioned fun!
