November 05, 2010
There are only two months left in 2010 and that means one should begin to prepare to ring in the new year with a bang! New Year's parties are the one event that many people tend to go all out for, as it is a time to reflect on the last year and look forward to good things for the upcoming one. This year, throw your very own party and celebrate with your best friends.
Start by coming up with a guestlist of all of your friends and family you want to invite. New Year's parties are meant to be big and over-the-top, so don't worry about having too many people at your shindig. You want to ring in the news year with a ton of people! Once you've narrowed down the list you then have to select the party invitations.
New Year's is all about fun and excitement, and your invitations can reflect that. Select a card that has some sparkle to it. Gold and silver are traditional colors often associated with ringing in the new year. Also, note on the invites that your guests should come dressed ready to party, no one will be sitting down in front of the television watching the ball drop at your fiesta.
Decorations are key to throwing a successful New Year's party. No one wants to attend a party that only has a few balloons and a strobe light. Use the gold and silver theme and invest in amazing balloons and streamers that can be scattered all over your venue. Hang a large custom banner with Happy New Year in big, bold letters. You may also want to decorate with metallic door curtains and garland to keep the sparkle alive.
Of course, you can't have a New Year's party without awesome party favors. Everyone will expect headbands and hats that say Happy New Year 2011 on them, and they're relatively inexpensive to procure. Also, have plenty of noisemakers and confetti on hand so that your guests and can throw them in the air and welcome the start of a new year as the clock strikes midnight!
You should also serve some food at your event. Snacks and small finger foods are perfect for parties like these. Guests can easily take what they want without worrying about having to sit down to eat. Be sure to have plenty of paper goods on hand such as napkins, cups and paper plates. You can find plenty of New Year themed goods so that they still go along with your party. Serve fun drinks and punch too, guests love a good punch.
As the countdown commences, gather your guests and get ready to scream at the top of your lungs. This is the moment where all of your planning pays off, as everyone is jovial and excited to be celebrating the birth of another year.
