Stock up on fantastic Thanksgiving supplies for a super-special holiday
November 11, 2010
Although nobody loves chilly weather, November can be one of the best times of the year. It's usually the month before the snow begins to fall and the leaves remain beautiful shades of red and brown. Of course, this is also the moment to celebrate one of the most important holidays on the calendar - Thanksgiving.
While the occasion often calls for long drives and weight gain, getting together with your family and catching up on old times leads to memories that are cherished throughout the months that follow. So, if you're hosting Thanksgiving this year and have yet to stock up on important supplies, what are you waiting for? Begin your party planning now and your friends and family will appreciate all your efforts.
First, make sure you locate scores of Thanksgiving paper goods. While most people will break out their best China for this occasion, you're going to need a number of paper cups, plates and napkins to keep in the kitchen. Guests are bound to bring plenty of sweet treats to your gathering, and scattering them around the house near paper goods will allow people to nibble at them when they would like.
Try to find autumnal paper plates that feature lovely images, such as a turkey or pumpkins. If you want to go with a more general theme (and feel a bit guilty about putting a photo of a bird on your plate when you'll be feasting on it throughout the evening!), paper plates with a beautiful brown leaf on them will do.
Next, make sure you purchase a Thanksgiving tablecover. Although you will want to paint as elegant of a scene as possible, it's safe to say food will be getting everywhere! Having a tablecover will save you hours of work after the dirty dishes are thrown in the sink and all of your guests have gone home.
Finally, try to think out of the box when planning your get-together. Surprising party details usually help people remember your shindig for months, and a Thanksgiving feast is no different.
For instance, have you thought about purchasing a turkey centerpiece? A bright-colored figure of a fancy feathered creature will add a bit of flavor and depth to your party and give your shindig some pizazz. It will also be great eye candy as people dig into their pumpkin pie.
Also, consider serving your guests their beverages in amber-colored LED pint glasses! Turn the lights down low, pour the wine and watch everyone have a ball.
Preparing for a Thanksgiving feast isn't easy, but it doesn't have to take forever. In fact, if you have yet to pick up a pencil and create a "to-do" list for your upcoming affair, never fear. Just begin your planning right this moment! In the end, your guests will be thankful for the fact that you invited them into your home.
