Beads, Beer, and Bourbon Street!
March 07, 2011
Well, it’s almost Mardi Gras season, which means it’s time to gobble down fatty foods and drink up some tropical cocktails. Whip out your beads and masks because it’s party time!
Spread the word about your Mardi Gras party with personalized invitations from our Mardi Gras collection. Go sassy and stylish with this colorful Mardi Gras mask invite, or simple and classic with our gold stars and swirl design. If you’ll be handing out the invites in person, attach a glitter mask to each one. This will really get people talking!
Mardi Gras parties are always crazy, so get wild with your decorations!
Wow your guests by hanging a large Mardi Gras mask banner in the front of your house. Customize your banner by writing “Welcome to the Big Easy” or “Free Beads” on it for a personal touch. Light up your house by tying Mardi Gras lumi-loon balloons around your lamppost and lining luminary bags along your walkway. Drape a festive door panel over the outside of your door, and surprise your guests by hanging a Mardi Gras door curtain on the opposite side!
Make sure to have all kinds of Mardi Gras inspired whirls, stringers and columns hanging from your ceiling. Don’t forget the mask danglers! The spiral fringe will bring a whimsical element to your party.
Liven up your walls by applying a Bourbon Street scene setter and New Orleans sign cutouts. Add a six foot Jester and a 21” glitter mask decoration and your guests won’t be able to tell the difference between The Big Easy and your house! If your party is last minute, choose one (or both) of our Mardi Gras decorating kits, which are pre-assembled for your convenience!
Still lacking enough green, yellow and purple? Drape Mardi Gras garland, party tape and balloons anywhere you see fit.
Since this holiday is also known as Fat Tuesday, your dining décor and the food you serve are extremely important! Create a beautiful tablescape by placing a simple royal purple table cover over your table. Place a Mardi Gras table runner on top of the cover for added flare and position a Fleur de Lis or ‘Party Gras’ centerpiece along the table runner. Create a place setting for each guest complete with plates, napkins, tumblers and plasticware. At each dinner plate, place a mask, boa and handful of beads. These items will help get the party started!
For dinner, serve up some traditional Louisiana grub. Try any one of these recipes for Creole fried chicken, red beans and rice and chicken jambalaya.
Now for the fun part, cocktails! Buy a variety of L.E.D. drinkware to use for the after dinner drinks. Fill them with Mardi Gras beverages like Mai Tais, Red Snappers and Bourbon Slush.
Between the food, drinks and overall excitement of Mardi Gras, you pretty much have the entertainment section of the party cut out for you. But just in case, get this Mardi Gras party kit, which comes equipped with enough hats, tiaras, horns and beads for 25 people!
Another fun activity is to get a mask piñata and fill it with adult candy—little bottles of liquor!
And, if you’re lucky enough to celebrate in New Orleans, you’re probably going to want to dress up in one of our Mardi Gras costumes.
Your guests will already be leaving your party with a handful of favors, but why not give them more! Fill a Mardi Gras bottom lit cup with an L.E.D. bead necklace, jester sunglasses, glow sticks and a flashing mask pin. In the morning, these goodies will remind your guests how much fun they had at your party!
