A Tradition Unlike Any Other: Green Jacket Master's Theme Party
April 05, 2012
As the world’s greatest golfers are gathering at Augusta for the Masters Golf Tournament, use it as an opportunity to plan your own party! Just because golf is normally a sedate event, know for quiet claps, hushed sports announcers, and well-behaved fans that doesn’t mean you can’t plan a party where your friends and fellow golf fans can get a little wild. After all, no one’s going to kick you off your own lawn if you decide to get a little rowdy!
Whether you’re planning a party for your fellow golf fans to cheer on your favorite Masters champions or planning a Masters-inspired golf tournament to raise money for a local charity, there are plenty of fun ideas to spice up what, to some non-sports fans, could be a potentially boring events.
With plenty of golf themed party supplies, there’s no lack of inspiration for your party. If you’re planning a night golf tournament on your own, check out our supply of tournament packages. All-in-one kits include everything you’ll need for a wild night of golf excitement. You can deck out the golf carts with LED novelties and let your players wear LED necklaces and bracelets so they’re nice and visible to the other players! The tournament packages also include glow-in-the-dark flags to mark your holes, light-up golf balls, and other fun trinkets that your golfers are sure to love!
Golf tournament or party, be sure to advertise your event with a custom golf banner. You can add a personal message announcing your event or wishing a birthday boy a fabulous par-“tee” with his friends! These high-quality vinyl banners will last for years, giving you a great keepsake of your event!
Set your tables with your golf party best! A popular choice is to go with the traditional Masters’ colors of green and gold. Use a green table cloth, which has the added bonus of looking like a putting green, and place a gold table runner down the center. To make a cute centerpiece, get a shallow 12x12 glass square box or vase, which can be found at most craft stores. Fill it with sand and place a golf ball in the middle to make it look like a sand trap! Place some fresh flowers around the base of the vase for some added color.
You’ll also want to stock up on plenty of golf paper goods for when your guests get the munchies! The golf club square plates are a popular choice and feature matching napkins and cups as well. Or, for a fun touch, surprise your guests with golf bottom lit cups! After all, what’s a golf game without a drink at the nineteenth hole?
For the rest of the decorations for your Masters themed golf party, try some balloon bouquets to flank the door.
Mix in some metallic golf ball balloons with latex golfer balloons and secure them with a golf ball balloon weight. Just be sure none of the guests try to tee off with the balloon weight after they have one too many cocktails! Have some fun golf novelties ready to hand out at your party! Whether you want to use them as prizes for a golf tournament or have planned some fun games for your guests to play, like Masters trivia, mini golf in the backyard, ladder golf, which can be bought at many home improvement and outdoor supply stores, or other party games, light up golf balls are a great choice for your party favors! Not only do they fit in perfectly with your Masters themed party, but die hard golf fans will love that they can keep on putting even after the sun goes down!
And one of the best ways to liven up your party when you invite friends over to watch the Masters Tournament is to place bets on the outcome. Instead of just having guests predict the winner, look up the stats of players who competed last year and have guests predict who will improve their score the most this year. You can also assign guests teams, like in Fantasy Football, and see who will have the lowest (or for a fun twist, highest) score at the end of the game. You can also create Masters bingo cards, with categories like “Fan Boos,” “Thrown Clubs,” “Ball in the Water,” “Drops his Gatorade,” “Yells at the Caddie,” “Fist Fight with a Fan,” and “Four Under Par.” See who can fill their card first!
Even if you’re not a golf fan yourself, you can find many ways to make a Masters golf party fun for yourself and your friends with the help of Windy City Novelties!
