There's Disney Magic in the Air: Throw a Mickey Mouse Theme Party!
April 20, 2012
Is your little one wild for Mickey Mouse and his friends? Then why not make his next birthday party a Mickey Mouse party? With the right Mickey Mouse party goods and accessories, you can throw the best Mickey Mouse party this side of Disney World!
Start out with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse invitations to let your guests know the important party details like when and where and whether they should bring their own Mickey ears. Of course you’ll want to stock up on Mickey Mouse plates and the coordinating and napkins. Set the scene for your Mickey Mouse table by covering it with a Mickey Mouse tablecloth, which not only completes your Mickey Mouse party theme, but will protect your table from drips and spills as well! Our Mickey Mouse Clubhouse centerpiece will be the finishing touch for your table! Add some red and yellow streamers and maybe a few metallic Mickey Mouse head balloons like the ones they sell at the Disney parks, and your little Mickey fan will be over the moon with your decorating skills!
If you have a talent for cake decorating, you can create your own Mickey Mouse themed cake using an oval cake pan and two circular pans. With some white and black frosting and a little creativity, you can create a wonderful Mickey head cake in no time! However, if you’re not brave enough to try you’re hand at cake decorating, you can order a Mickey Mouse cake from your local bakery and spend your time focusing on the rest of the menu!
For a kids’ party, everyone knows the cake and ice cream are the main focus, so you won’t need a lot of heavy food. If you want to serve lunch, take a Mickey Mouse shaped cookie cutter and cut out sandwiches for a fun twist. Or, serve “Mouse food” and set out cheese cubes, veggies and fruit with dip, and popcorn treats. You can also create Mickey Mouse heads out of cookies by attaching small chocolate wafers to a vanilla sandwich cookie with frosting and using frosting or an edible ink pen to draw on Mickey’s face. The kids will be delighted to see your Mickey-themed treat! When the guests arrive have them pose with a life-size Mickey standup for a great photo opportunity!
Plan some fun activities for your Mickey Mouse party to keep the kids amused. Some ideas include: Download the theme song from the original “Mickey Mouse Club” or “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” to use while the kids play a game of musical chairs. Create a Mickey Mouse memory game. Print out paired pictures of popular Disney characters on oversized cards. Lay the cards out face down on the table and see which child has the best memory! Play Pin the Ears on Mickey, which is a twist on Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Print out on oversized picture of Mickey Mouse and cut out sets of Mickey ears. Blindfold each child, spin them around, and see who can get Mickey’s ears closest to the top of his head! In keeping with the Mickey Mouse theme, you can hand out Mickey Mouse headbands to each child as they arrive so everyone has their own pair of Mickey ears for the party!
At the end of the party, hand out Mickey Mouse treat bags to each guest to thank them for coming. Stuff them with fun party favors like Mickey Clubhouse blowouts, glow bracelets in assorted colors, and animal shaped bracelet bands.
Short of taking your child to Disney World for their birthday, throwing a Mickey Mouse party is sure to make any Mickey fan birthday special! With just a little creativity and the help of Windy City Novelties, planning your Mickey Mouse party will be a snap!
