April 24, 2012
Ahoy me hearties! Are you hoping your child has a swash buckling good time at his next birthday party? Then don your favorite eye patch, throw your parrot on your shoulder, and perfect your pirate swagger because a pirate themed party is the perfect choice for any little boy! With these creative ideas, your little pirate-in-training will have the best pirate party on the block!
Start out with some personalized pirate themed invitations. With nine pirate themes to choose from you’ll be able to find the perfect invite for your party! And since these pirate-themed invitations are completely customizable, with twelve different fonts and twenty-four ink colors, and preprinted with all your party details, you’ll have a great-looking invitation to send out with minimal time on your part.
Once you’ve gotten the invitations out of the way, it’s time to move on to the heavy-duty planning stages! And with so many pirate party supplies to choose from, not going overboard ordering your party supplies will be the hardest part!
Start out with pirate-themed paper goods to serve your pirate gruel on. Choose from pirate party plates, pirate’s treasure plates, or go with the skull and crossbones theme for a more menacing party atmosphere! Make sure you stock up on the coordinating cups and napkins when you order your pirate paper goods!
You may be wondering what to serve the hungry guests at a pirate party. Traditional pirate fare of gruel, undercooked fish, and ale probably won’t go over well with the younger crowd, so here’s some yummier menu options. You don’t have to go all out when hosting a kids’ party, everyone knows they are only there for the cake and ice cream anyway. As long as you have a pirate theme cake, whether it’s in the shape of a ship, a treasure map, a parrot, or a pirate hat, the rest of the food planning is easy as pie!
Here's some ideas: Cut cheese slice or finger sandwiches into pirate shapes using cookie cutters. Set out a fresh fruit plate for the guests to snack on. After all, you wouldn’t want the little pirates to come down with a case of scurvy! For your more adventurous pirates, try shrimp cocktails. Mix together popcorn, chocolate chips, pretzels, and peanut butter chips. Portion into individual pirate’s treasures cups and call it Pirate’s Bounty!
Once you’ve got the menu set you’ll want to find the perfect pirate party decorations to set the tone. Drape the walls in our Ocean & Blue Sky scene setters to give the guests the feeling that they are out to sea on a true pirate ship. Hang some treasure hunt whirls from the ceiling and add some fighting pirates on the beach for authenticity and the kids will think they’ve set off on a real pirate adventure. Set up our medieval stockade photo prop or our pirate photo prop and snap some great photos of all the guests!
In keeping with the pirate theme, have some activities planned to keep your little pirates busy during the party. Plan a treasure hunt for the kids. Create a treasure map using plain paper that you can age with a damp tea bag and some strategic tearing. X marks the spot for a treasure chest stuffed with pirate favors like pirate skull caps and eye patches for all the guests, along with some chocolates and treats for the kids to share. Stuff a pirate piñata with candy and let the kids take a swing at it! No one can resist a piñata, so you might have to buy a separate pirate piñata for the adults to play with too! Set up a craft table where the kids can decorate paper towel tubes and create their own spyglass by covering the ends with colored cellophane.
When you’re planning your pirate theme party, don’t forget the party favors! Use our gold favor boxes and let the kids feel like they’re going home with real pirate treasure! Stuff them with small candies and temporary pirate tattoos and all your guests will be happy little campers…err, pirates!
With just a little bit of planning and a lot of creativity you’ll be able to throw a swash buckling good pirate party, so get to work swabbing the decks and let Windy City Novelties take care of all your pirate party supply needs!
