Fall Brings the Start of the High School Football Season and is the Perfect Time to Throw a Pregame Party for the Fans in Your Life!
September 13, 2012
Now that school's started up again, chances are the football fans in your life are getting in gear for some high school football action. Whether your team was state champs last year or hasn't made the playoffs in a decade, the football season is a time for celebration and even if you don't have a cheerleader or player in the family, that doesn't mean you can't throw a party to celebrate the football fun!
Have your child invite their friends over for some football themed fun a few hours before the game starts and set the stage with plenty of football party supplies and munchies to keep them full throughout the game. Start out with a customized football banner in the front yard showing your support for the school team or cheering on your favorite player. And keep your outside looking just as festive by stringing the porch railing with electric football lights. Everyone will know you're ready for game night with the house looking so festive! There's no need to go overboard with the indoor decorations since high school kids probably won't pay much attention to the decor, but that doesn't mean you can't have a little fun! Small touches on the table like a football field tablecloth, football serving dishes, and trays, and an inflatable goal post cooler are all fun touches that even the most oblivious teen will notice and appreciate! Add some Game On! football swirls and your party decor will be complete.
Since you'll be hosting a horde of hungry teens, the most important aspect of your pre-game party is going to be the menu. High school kids aren't going to be impressed with high class cuisine, so stocking up on the basics like chips, dips, and pizza is always a surefire crowd pleaser. But, if you're looking for something a little less predictable but still appealing to the masses, there's plenty of options. Chicken wings, pigs in a blanket, tortilla rollups, a taco bar, burgers and hot dogs on the grill, and sub sandwiches are other great ideas that the kids will love and that will keep them full and satisfied through the game. And don't forget the treats to satisfy the sweet tooth! Send them off with some homemade cookies, brownies, chocolate covered pretzels, and candy and you'll have a house full of happy teens for sure!
Have some fun getting the teens riled up and ready for the game before you send them off to cheer for the team. Order cowbells in the team's colors and set up a table complete with paints, glitter, glue, ribbon, and other art supplies so the kids can decorate and personalize their bells before the big game. Not only will they have a fun memento of the party, but they'll also have a great way to make some noise and cheer on the football team to victory! Or, if you need something a little louder, go for the megaphones or stadium horns! No one will be able to miss the cheering crowd with these noisemakers!
Once you've got the kids fed and sent them off to the game ready to make some noise and cheer for their favorite players, all that's left for you to do is clean up the mess, enjoy the silence and head to the game yourself! Just be prepared for the kids to be clamoring for another invite to a pregame party at your house since you'll know just how to start those Friday night games off with a bang!
