The College Basketball Season is Underway, Throw a NCAA Themed Party to Celebrate!
November 30, 2012
Celebrate the start of college basketball season with a fabulous College Basketball Kickoff Party! Invite your fellow NCAA basketball fans and fanatics over for your favorite team's first game and get ready to cheer your team on to victory in style!
Whether you want to send out personalized basketball invitations through the mail or are content with a quick email invite, be sure to include all the important details, including which game you'll be watching, what time tipoff is, and whether you want guests to bring a dish to pass. If you're inviting a big crowd, include an RSVP date so you'll have an idea of how many guests to expect.
Kick up the decor for your College Basketball Kickoff Party by outfitting your party space with some fun basketball party decorations. You can go with a general basketball theme, hanging some basketball whirls from the ceiling and including a few basketball balloons in your decor. Spice up your table decorations with a fun Spalding Ball table cover accented with matching Spalding ball paper plates to serve some tasty treats on. Or, if you've got a specific college team you're rooting for, stock up on college team decorations from your alma mater or favorite school!
You'll need to have plenty of food to keep the crowd full and satisfied while they're watching the game. A sit-down meal isn't a good option for this type of party, so fill your table with lots of tasty finger foods that guests can snack on in between plays or while the commercials are airing. Chicken wings are always a crowd pleaser, and if you're adventurous, you can make your own with various flavors of sauces, ranging from a mild ranch to a hot and spicy Buffalo sauce. Chips and dips, BBQ meatballs, fresh veggies, fruit kabobs, and cheese and crackers are also good choices. If you're looking for a heartier dish to serve, chili is a great choice that's easy to make ahead of time. You can have a big pot ready on the stove and people can fill their bowls throughout the night as they get hungry. Have smaller bowls of shredded cheese, diced onions, corn chips, sour cream, and diced peppers available so guests can doctor their chili just the way they like it! Or, if chili isn't your style, try setting up a nacho bar, complete with platters of nachos, ground beef, refried beans, olives, cheese, peppers, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, and onions. Guests can create their own plates of nachos and pop them in the microwave to heat them up so everyone has a hearty meal made just the way they like it! For dessert, make cookies in the shape of basketballs or cupcakes topped with basketball rings and frosted in your team's colors.
The television is going to take center stage for your College basketball kickoff party, so make sure there's plenty of available seating. Clear off all the couches, pull in some extra chairs if possible, and toss some blankets and pillows on the floor for anyone who wants to spread out while watching the game. If you've got kids or pets, make sure the toys are cleaned up off the floor so no one winds up sitting on a puzzle piece or block while watching the big play! With all the guests congregating in one room, it's likely to get crowed in there, so keep the area as clutter free as possible to ensure everyone is comfortable.
Nothing gets basketball fans more excited than the start of a new season and the chance to watch their favorite team take the court. Whether you're team was a big winner last season, you're hoping this is the year for them, or you're just eager to see the up-and-coming players show their stuff, sharing the start of the season with other college basketball fans is a great excuse for a party! So round up your fellow NCAA basketball fanatics and get ready to kick off the season in style!
