Turn Christmas Gift Wrapping into a Fun Experience with a Holiday Gift Wrapping Party!
December 12, 2012
Take one of the most boring and dreaded parts of the holiday season and turn it into an excuse to party with your friends! Everyone loves ripping into the packages Christmas morning, but, unless you're a crafting goddess or Martha Stewart, wrapping all those gifts can be time consuming and frustrating for many. This year, why not share the misery and invite a couple friends over for a Christmas wrapping party? Sharing the chore with friends will make it more bearable and having a couple of hours to catch up with your favorite pals during the busy holiday season is always a joy!
Host your holiday wrapping party on a morning when the kids will be out of the house if possible. You may need to recruit your spouse and send the rest of the family out for some family fun without you so you can get your packages wrapped in peace, but getting your gifts wrapped and spending time with your friends will be worth the sacrifice! Choose a couple of friends to come and wrap with you. Since you'll all need room to spread out, you'll want to limit the guest list to two or three other people for your Christmas wrapping party.
Get ready for your party by setting up your space with all the wrapping essentials you and your friends will need. Since it's your party, be ready with various wrapping papers, stick-on bows, and all the tape, scissors, pens, and gift tags you and you're friends will need. Stock up on some fun extras that everyone can use to add some extra sparkle and spice to their packages as well. Curling ribbon in red, white, green, silver, gold, and other festive colors looks great on packages and can be used to accent your plain stick-on bows. And for those oversized gifts that can only be wrapped in a garbage bag, consider having a couple oversized red bows on hand to add some decoration to those boring bags! For small gifts, use mini Christmas stockings instead of wasting boxes or gift bags, and, since these stockings can be written on with felt pens, you can save on the gift tags as well! Add some rubber stamps, stickers, and other crafting supplies to your arsenal of wrapping supplies and you'll be ready to wrap till your fingers bleed!
No one can wrap on an empty stomach, so in addition to having a table set up with all your wrapping essentials, have another table filled with munchies to get you all through the day. Make it look festive by draping it with a festive red and white tablecloth and stocking up on some peppermint party plates and fun Santa napkins. Fill your Santa serving tray with tasty goodies that are perfect for the holiday season, like Christmas cupcakes with red, green, or white frosting, Christmas cookies, candy, and fudge. The sugar high will certainly keep you all raring to go while you're trying to get through that pile of gifts you need to wrap! But, if you're watching your weight through the holidays or want some snacks with a little more substance, serve finger sandwiches with a variety of fillings, fresh veggies with fat-free dip, fruit kabobs with yogurt dip, or chicken salad rollups. And of course, you'll need plenty of festive holiday drinks like apple cider, eggnog, and hot chocolate to get you all through the day as well!
Once you've got your space set up for your Christmas wrapping party, crank up some Christmas tunes and don your favorite Santa Claus plush hat or reindeer antlers to get you in the holiday mood and get ready to burn through that pile of presents while visiting with your friends. You'll be able to cross that big chore off your to-do list with the help of some other Santa's helpers, which will make wrapping your presents a lot more fun this year!
