Celebrate Shark Week with the Help of Windy City Novelties!
August 06, 2013
It’s that time of the year again! Everybody’s favorite week has arrived--Shark Week, a whole week dedicated to none other than one of the ocean’s greatest creatures. Shark Week is hosted by the Discovery Channel and consists of a week-long series of programs exclusively about sharks. The original idea behind Shark Week was to create awareness about the animals and to raise respect. However, the program has gained much interest from the public and is now a series of programs that people tend to look forward to every year, while still carrying out its original purpose of raising awareness of the animals.
There are many ways you can celebrate Shark Week, beyond simply watching it on television. Here are a few ways you can celebrate everybody’s favorite week!
Host a Shark Week Viewing Party
Gather your friends and family to celebrate the greatness that is Shark Week. During one of the nights of Shark Week, decorate your place by putting up a few shark cutouts on the walls. You could also put up a beach scene setter if you would really like to set the mood.
Then invite some friends over to watch the shark programs set to air that night. You are going to have to provide your guests with some snacks, so serve up some goodies on shark paper plates to go with your viewing party theme. Serve ice cold beverages in matching shark cups, along with shark napkins.
Celebrate Shark Week in the Office
Add some fun to your work week by celebrating Shark Week in the office! Bring in shark themed cupcakes for your coworkers. Make ordinary cupcakes, and then add a little bit of blue food coloring to vanilla frosting to spread on top of the cupcakes. Wrap them in shark cupcake wrappers and place a little shark fin on top! You could also bring in a shark photo prop for employees to take pictures with.
Dress up as a Shark
If you love sharks so much, why not get into the spirit of things and dress up as a shark with shark costumes! Or, if you don’t feel like dressing up as a shark, dress your dog up as a shark and enjoy watching him swim (run) around your home.
Scare your Friends/Family
Pull a little Shark Week prank on your family or roommates by placing a shark toilet topper cover on top of the toilet seat. It will make it look like a shark is jumping right out of your toilet and will scare whoever goes to use the bathroom next.
Throw a Shark-Themed Birthday Party
If you, your child, or someone you know has a birthday around Shark Week, throw them a Shark Week birthday party! Invite guests to the party with personalized shark invitations including all of the details of the party.
Decorate the party area with shark decorations. Hang up a “Happy Birthday” shark banner to welcome the birthday boy or girl. In addition to the banner, hang shark birthday danglers from the ceiling around the area.
Set out a table full of snacks and treats for guests to help themselves to during the party. Cover the table with shark table covers and set out shark paper plates and napkins for guests to eat off of.
