January 21, 2014
The 2014 Winter Olympics will begin shortly in Sochi, Krasnodar Krai, Russia, giving everyone around the world a reason to celebrate. The Winter Olympics consist of winter sporting events, including alpine skiing, bobsledding, cross-country skiing, curling, figure skating, freestyle skiing, ice hockey, luging, snowboarding and speed skating. Host an Olympics party to watch the Opening Ceremony on Friday, February 7th, or invite several friends over to watch some of your favorite Winter Olympic sporting events! Decorate your party space with Olympics decorations and serve up some cuisine from all around the world. Here are some tips and ideas on throwing a Winter Olympics party:
Invite friends to your Olympics party with Olympic-themed invitations! For a fun party idea, have guests compete against each other in mini Olympic games. Have each guest dress up in attire from a different country and see which country wins.
Use International Paper Goods when serving foods at your party. Or, you can choose to serve drinks and snacks on patriotic paper goods to root for Team USA. Place an International Flag Runner on your dining or buffet table, along with the paper plates, napkins and cups of your choice. Serve up an assortment of foods from various nationalities! If you plan to have guests compete in your own version of the Winter Olympic games, have each guest bring a dish from their designated country for a potluck. Or, stick with one theme and serve up some good ol’ American favorites, such as hotdogs, burgers, etc.
Drape an international flag banner somewhere in your party area. The flag banner features an assortment of national flags, perfect for your Olympics party! Or hang a “Welcome” banner that says “welcome” in several languages.
Place Olympic-themed decorations on the walls, such as Winter Olympic figure cutouts and a gold torch or the Olympic Rings.
Hang international flag whirls from your ceiling, or place cutouts on the walls.
Costumes and Accessories
Have everyone get into the spirit of your Olympics party by dressing up in costumes! Then have your guest compete in mini Olympic games to see which country comes out on top. Choose from a variety of costumes and costume accessories from different cultures around the world, including Germany, Italy, Britain, Spain, and much more.
Award the first, second and third place winners of your games with their very own gold, silver and bronze medals!
