  It is not a chalkboard, you can personalize it permanently with a paint pen.

These were perfect for what we were using them for. We sparkled them up with glitter and they took the glue and glitter fine. They are a little on the small side but they still will work perfect. You can not beat the price on these and the free shipping was a bonus.
