Magic Themed Birthday Party Tips and Ideas

By Windy City Novelties |November 12, 2013

If you have a fan of magic in your household, throw them a special birthday party with magic themed party supplies! Bust out the card tricks and magic wands for a spectacular party. You can even hire a magician to come and put on a show at your home! Here are some ideas and tips on how to throw a kid’s magic themed birthday party:

Magic Themed Invitations

Start by informing your child’s friends and parents about the magnificent magic party you will be throwing with magic invitations!

Magic Themed Decorations

When decorating for the magic party, hang up red and black decorations around the party space. Use a red or black decorating kit to add garland and hanging decorations around the area. You can also drape red and/or black streamers around the party space.

If you plan on having a professional magician come to the party, set up a little stage area for them to put on their show. Included in the performance area should be a red curtain. You can also create a red curtain backdrop as part of the magic decorations for the party. Purchase a set of inexpensive red drapes at a local craft or home goods store, or create your own “red curtain” by using red streamers!

Add to the magic theme by also hanging silver or gold metallic stars around the party space, as well as placing giant playing card decorations on the walls!

Magic Themed Paper Goods

Cover your dining table with a red table cover and set out black paper goods for the kids to eat off of, such as black plates, napkins and cups.

Create cute table centerpieces by purchasing several top hats—either plastic or felt—and stick red, silver or gold tissue paper in them, along with a magic wand and a tiny stuffed white rabbit.

Activities

For a fun activity at your magic party, hire a professional magician to come and perform tricks for the kids. You can also have them teach the kids how to perform a few magic tricks, themselves! For party favors, you can provide each kid with their own set of cards for magic tricks, as well as magic wands and plastic top hats!
