Celebrate Disney's Release of 'The Lone Ranger' with a Western Theme Party

July 1, 2013

Disney’s new The Lone Ranger film is getting everyone excited to see a new take one everyone’s favorite Texas Ranger. Because the film is so relevant and popular right now, adding a Lone Ranger theme to a birthday party, or just any normal get-together, will turn a standard party into a unique and fun one! Here are some helpful tips on creating a Lone Ranger themed party!

Western Theme Invitations

Inform guests of the rootin’ tootin’ party you’ll be throwing with Western themed invitations! Personalize the invitations to say whatever you please and to specify the type of party it is.

 Western Themed Decorations

Transform your home or party space into a western Saloon with western themed decorations. Hanging western town scene setters and wall clings will make guests feel like they are in the Wild, Wild West.  Cutouts of cacti, cowboy boots, cowboy hats, and more can be placed on the walls for a fun and festive feel.  You can also place Wanted posters on the walls with the guest of honor’s picture on them!

Hang western string lights on the walls to add some light around the area. Or, if the party is outdoors, hang the lights around the outdoor entertainment area as a source of light for when the party stretches into the evening.

Place disposable rustic colored table covers on tables for easy cleanup once the party is over. To make the table more festive, add a western centerpiece on top, such as a paper cactus or paper hay stacks.

For a fun and helpful western decoration, place Wild West sign cutouts around the area to let guests know where the “outhouse” is or to direct them to the “saloon.”

Serve up traditional Western foods on rustic-looking paper goods, complete with paper plates, napkins, and matching paper cups. Or, if you want to be really authentic, serve meals on metal pie tins and serve drinks in canteens or metal mugs.

As a snack, or little appetizer, for guests, put out tortilla chips and salsa. For a meal, cook authentic Western foods, such as sloppy joes, barbeque pork sandwiches, or chicken legs. As sides, serve up some spicy chili, baked beans, corn on the cob, cole slaw, and cornbread muffins. For a dessert, serve up some baked apple or cheery pie.

Activities and Party Favors

Make sure your guests show up in their finest Lone Ranger gear, complete with cowboy hats and cowboy boots! Hand out funny party favors to really get the party started, such as stick-on mustaches. Or, hand out western bead necklaces to all the ladies that walk in, and plastic sheriff badges to the guys. For those that “forgot” to dress up, make them get into the spirit of things by putting them in a western face mask! Don’t forget that some people can dress up as Tonto, the loyal Native American sidekick!

To keep guests entertained, round up the grownups to play a friendly game of horseshoes. Kids can stay busy with a piñata in the shape of cowboy boots. And finally, get everyone at the party two-steppin’ and line dancing to some classic country music!

With all of these great ideas, your Lone Ranger party will be a night to remember!
