Host Your Child's Next Birthday Party at the Bowling Alley

August 19, 2013

If you have a child with a birthday coming up, and have no idea what to do for it, try having a bowling party! A party at a bowling alley will make for a little less work for you, and you won’t have to worry about having a bunch of kids running around your home. Or if the kids are getting bored and restless this summer, get them out of the summer heat by planning a little bowling get-together for them and their friends!

Check with your local bowling alley to see if they reserve a small section for birthdays or other special occasions. Also find out if they will be supplying food and drinks, as well as decorations.

Bowling Party Invitations

Send out invitations to your child’s friends with the time, date, place, etc. of the party. If the party is for a birthday, send out birthday invitations. If the party is just-for-fun, specify that within the invitation so guests know if they should bring a gift or not. Also, it might be fun to get all of the kids parents involved, too! You could include funny bowling puns on the invitation, such as “in your spare time…,” or “this party is right up your alley,” and anything else you may think of.

Bowling Party Decorations

If your local bowling alley does not supply decorations, bring a few streamers, balloons, or banners along with. Hang up a banner to let everyone know where the party area is going to be, with a shout out to the birthday boy or girl.

Or if you don’t want to worry about a large banner, you can hang a simple “Happy Birthday” banner over the party space.

Food and Drinks

If your bowling alley will not supply food, you can keep it simple and order a pizza to the alley. Or, you can bring sandwiches for the kids, along with some fruits and vegetables as snacks, as well as juice boxes and water bottles. Typically bowling alleys supply the food, so all you may have to worry about is brings some snacks for the kids to munch on before the meal is served. Bring bowling napkins to match the table cloth.

Goody Bags

If the party is for a child’s birthday, hand out goody bags to guests. If your bowling alley is attached to an arcade, or there are arcade games within the bowling alley, be sure to give the kids some quarters so they can play the games. Then place fun little items in the goody bags that the children will enjoy, such as key chains, bracelets, mini squirt guns, etc.
