Party Guide for an Alien and Sci-Fi Themed Birthday Party
Just recently was the 66th anniversary of the Roswell UFO incident. In honor of this, an outer space or alien theme for your next party would be a great and fun idea! The Roswell incident involved a crash-landing of an unknown object on a ranch in Roswell, New Mexico. The owner of the ranch called authorities which captured the attention of the public. Many believed the object was a UFO filled with extraterrestrial life, while the government confirmed that the US military was carrying out a top secret experiment involving a surveillance balloon containing dummies. Even after the government had confirmed what the object was, many people, to this day, still believed it was a UFO from another planet.
Have an out of this world party with the help of Windy City Novelties! This theme is great for a children’s birthday party, especially if they are interested in sci-fi topics. Here are some tips on how to have an alien/outer space party:
Sci-Fi Themed Invitations
Send the guests invitations that correlate with the theme of the party to let them know the party will be themed. Send out moon landing personalized invitations stating where and when the little shindig will be.
After you’ve figured out the details of your party, it’s time to start decorating. Blast your party into space with outer space decorations! Hanging up giant space scene setters on the walls will have the kids feeling like they are inside a spaceship. You could also turn a decoration into a game by placing solar system clings on the walls and having the children name all of the planets within our solar system. The winner can receive a prize!
For another decoration, place green, light-up alien balloons around the party space. You can purchase balloons that light up with an LED light already placed inside, or you can create your own by placing a glow stick inside of balloons before blowing them up. At the end of the party, you can give one to each of the children to take home as a cool little gift.
If the children are a little older, you can turn the lights off for a portion of your party by placing a strobe light or laser ball to add to the sci-fi feel. Then give the kids glow necklaces, bracelets, and glasses to wear. You could also hang up stick-on glow in the dark stars around the party area.
Your party is going to need snacks and beverages! To go along with the theme, serve up a tasty alien slime punch. All you need is green Hawaiian Punch, Sprite or 7Up, and lime sherbert. Serve the punch, or other beverages, in plastic alien water bottles that the kids can take home with them once the party is over. Or, you can serve drinks in plain black plastic cups that will match with the space themed paper plates and napkins.
As far as food goes, you can choose to serve traditional foods, such as sandwiches, chips, vegetables, and so on. Add a few snacks that keep up with the theme, though, such as Jell-O squares in blue and green colors. Make sugar cookies in shapes like UFOs, stars, alien heads, and spaceships. Frost the alien heads with green frosting and black frosting for the almond shaped alien eyes.
