Renewing vows: Now you can have that 'crazy' wedding
May 12, 2009
You may have had the perfect wedding reception, but perhaps a part of you always wanted to have the ceremony in the backyard with a laid-back party.
Well, now you can make that dream a reality.
Some married couples who renew their vows are taking the opportunity to throw a party that is the polar opposite of their wedding reception. This means couples can have that destination wedding in Sedona, Arizona with the beautiful red rocks in the background or have the beach reception they always wanted.
One idea is to give your wedding vow renewal party a special theme and ask guests to dress a certain way. This allows the party to be formal, but relaxed at the same time. This is especially true if your theme happens to be a "white trash wedding," which is what two celebrities recently did.
Supermodel Heidi Klum and musician Seal renewed their wedding vows with the musician donning a mullet wig while the model had braided her hair into corn rows. To cap off the ceremony, a man dressed as Elvis read the happy couple their vows.
